Sweta’s essays "Finding Solace in a Pear," and "The Untold Tale of Globalization," have appeared in one of the popularly read online South Asian publications, Desijournal. The former essay, a humorous piece, conveys the writer’s challenges with maintaining her weight and accepting her pear-shaped body. It’s interesting how New York (obsessively counting calories and waking up in the morning to ensure no pound sneaked up on her while she was asleep) has changed her perception of "fit," "healthy" and "perfect size" from when she lived in India (indulged in deep fried "vada paos" and sodium-laden, MSG-dipped "Chilli Chicken.") The essay contrasted the writer’s life in India vs. New York and alludes to "right weight" being an unattainable myth.
